JULY 4TH, 2010

Well we had another successful horse show, a BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO ALL THE SPONSORS, THE HORSE SHOW COMMITTEE AND VOLUNTEERS, with out you this event would not happen.  We have been extremely busy with our summer events coming up.  Time just flys by and before you know it the Annual Fair and Rodeo will be here.  Calling all volunteers to help with the rodeo!!!! If you can lend a hand even for an hour or two your help would be very much appreciated.  Please call the office if you can help us out.  We have some great farm safety information for kids coming to the rodeo and this will be in the Ag. hall, thank you to Georgia for setting this up.  Amber Havens from Fairview will give the kids lots of great information.

Thanks to the former Alberta Blues for their donation to the Ag. Society, your donation is very much appreciated.  Also we received a laptop computer from ATB and this is going to be so awesome to have.  We can put our horse show program on it and and accounting program and with a printer we will be so organized.  I did my happy dance that day as that has been on my wish list for a long time.

Our flowers looked so good but the deer came in and munched them down, hoping they recover.  George put a few noisy gadgets there to deter them.

Our schedule is now updated so check it out and see what all is going to be happening at the fair & rodeo.  The RCMP Musical Ride is on the rodeo page.  This is going to be the highlight of the summer to have them come to Valleyview.

The gymnastics club is going to be starting up again this fall, call Leslie for more information at 780-524-2919.

May 23, 2010

Wow! This past month has just flown by.  We are back to winter but it is much welcomed moisture.  A Big Thank You to Armand Brule, Stan Barber, Georgia Barber, Bert Trottier, Martha Trottier and Ernie Simpkins.  Armand & Stan put the brick work together by the flags and Ernie, Bert & Georgia put the dirt in and Martha went shopping for some new flowers to plant.  Thanks Georgia for organizing this project.  Paradise in Bloom also donated a bag of dirt.  It looks great and once the flowers are planted it is going to look even better.  It is high enough the bunnies should leave it alone, but they have been doing a good job of keeping the dandylions ate off!

Thank You to Sheilla McCarroll, she made us a sign for the grounds and it looks great.

Won't be long and the horse show will be here - June 4th & 5th.  Anyone out there like to volunteer at the horse show please give me a call @780-524-3473.  A couple hours of your time would be greatly appreciated.

We have had another RCMP Musical Ride planning meeting and things are moving along.  We have the mounted shooters performing, the police dogs and a working stock dog demonstration.  We are again planning the beef on a bun supper.  Victim's Services are going to sell memorabilia for this event. The next meeting is June 17th at 7:00 at the Ag. Plex, it is the same day as the regular meeting.

February 21/2010

Where has February gone, hope you have all been out enjoying this unbelievably nice weather.  Haven't had too much on the agenda lately.  The rodeo committee met and this year we are going to have dummy roping at the rodeo for the kids.  We have to look for rules and ages for this competition.  If anyone knows of where to get this information let me know. We have the stock contractor, announcer and the same band booked.  We will be having the ranch horse competition again and there will be a junior category as well.

We would like to have a driving clinic if there is enough interest.  We will try to get this lined up so we can use the outdoor arena as well as the indoor.

The RCMP ride is scheduled this year on August 18th, this will be a very exciting event.  Anyone interested in being on the planning committee please let me know, the first meeting will be in March.

Spaghetti Supper is planned for March 4th so come and enjoy an evening out.  Proceeds from this event support the welcoming wagon program. The girls are making bannock again.

Come and enjoy this fun family event.
