Here it is May already. After much discussion on the EHVwe decided to postpone the horse show till July 22,23,24th, the format will stay the same just a different date. The dressage show will still go June 25,26. The show books are available now on the website for the dressage show.

Can you believe it! Spring is here or so the calendar says. Well we are starting spring off with a Jill Jardie clinic. The clinic is coming up this weekend and it is full. She is back by popular demand, so it should be a good clinic.
All the renovations are done, we 've had a lot of projects to do the last 2 years and we've got a lot accomplished. The celebrate the hall being finished we are having a concert with Gary Fjellgaard and friends on April 20th at 7:00 pm. We will have desserts and refreshments (beer and coolers) for sale.
Tickets are now for sale at Building Supplies, Paradise in bloom, and at the office.
The arena is now starting to get busy so please remember to call the office to see when it is booked. Saturdays evenings are now reserved for members to ride, this has changed from last year when it was Thursdays.

The roping clinic has been rescheduled to February 4,5,6th. Some upcoming clinics include Cathy Playden for jumping on March 12 & 13th, Jill Jardie Dressage Clinic on the 26 & 27th of March. The dressage clinic is filled but there is still some spots available in the jumping clinic. Registration fee is $125 and participants will ride in small groups.
The hall renovations will soon be finished and to celebrate we are having a concert on April 20th with Gary Fjellgaard & Friends. Tickets are $20 and will be available at Building Supplies - talk to Lisa Rutt.
Arena user memberships are now due, if you ride in the arena you must have a membership. Cost is $100 for adults, $50 for juniors 16 & under and $250 for family membership. This membership entitiles you to ride when the arena is not booked. Call 780 524-3473 to see when it is booked.
5 directors are going to the Alberta Association of Ag. Societies convention and we always look forward to going and coming back with some new ideas and information.

Thanks to everyone for attending the AGM on December 9th. We would like to welcome and thank the following people who have volunteered to be a director for the Agricultural Society. We are looking forward to another busy and successful year.

Pro Force Contracting finished up renovations to the hall and it looks great. We just have the acoustics to replace and it will look like new.
Our Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Night was very well attended, again THANK YOU to all the great volunteers and sponsors who have helped us out during the year.
Another roping clinic is planned for January 14,15,16. Make sure you register early if you want to get in, space is limited. This is always a very good clinic with lots of one on one.
We will be having Jill Jardie back in March, register early for this one as last time it was full with a waiting list.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day with family & friends.
Congratulations to Shelby Goodrich and Kenny Marcotte who received the Agricultural Society Scholarships.
Congratulations also to Dana Adolphson who attended the sport horse nationals down in Napa, Idaho with her horse Shakheel Khaleel.
There is an Equine Preventable Infectious Disease Information night on Thursday October 21st, be sure to attend this evening which is open to all interested horse owners and 4-H members. Also being discussed will be the flu epidemic which hit our area last spring. Do call the vet clinic to register as there is a supper before the presentation.
The Terry Jerret Clinic reining clinic went very well, thanks to Georgia Barber for organizing this event. Next clinic coming up is a roping clinic the end of October and a dressage clinic in November. Check the calendar for more details. The photography clinic went so well we plan to offer another one next year, a thank you goes out to our volunteers Bert Trottier, Dana Adolphson and Heather Hoggan for bringing Murdock and Beau for models.
Our annual Volunteer Appreciation and awards night will be coming up on the 6th of November. We would like to send out a special invitation for all volunteers and sponsors who helped us during the year to attend. We will be having a big supper with the Ag. Fair awards to follow.
Now that fall is here the arena is starting to get busy, check the messages to make sure it is not booked before loading up to come in and ride. Arena memberships are due again by the end of December for 2011. The Red Willow Roping Club will be starting up soon, their regular nights are - Wednesdays and Fridays from 7-9 and Sundays 2-5.
Three weeks and it is fair and rodeo weekend! Where does the time go! Don't forget entries for the rodeo are July 29 from noon till 5. Look for two new things this year - dummy roping for the kids and a junior ranch horse division. RCMP tickets are now for sale in advance at the RCMP detachment in Valleyview, Napa, Ag. Society Office and Fountain Tire. A Big thank you goes out to those people selling tickets for us. Much appreciated. We are having a Equine Photography Workshop September 12 at 1:00. This is a four hour workshop and you will learn-how to pose both horse and rider for a beautiful portrait, how to capture the "jump shot" at just the right moment, how to recognise the right place at the right time, how you can see the light, discover easy tricks for artistic effects and freestyle and action shots made easy. All hands on. We will be needing equine and people models for dressage, jumping, Western, English, halter, barrel racing or any type of action shots. Models will get free portraits. This workshop is limited to the first 20 paid participants and the fee is $89.00. Call the Ag. Office to register. It is a beautiful day outside - looks like a good day to ride.
